Box 36 Nursery Rhymes

This box contains a selection of costumes and objects representing traditional nursery rhymes, such as Little Miss Muffet, Jack and Jill, 3 blind mice and Humpty Dumpty. The costumes are useful both during and outside the literacy hour and can be used as a resource for literacy and drama, where pupils could be encouraged to take the roles of different characters and act out their parts for the class.

Ideal for use with Key Stage 1 and 2.

Key learning objectives

  • Speaking and Listening: To encourage pupils to explore traditional fairy tales using speaking and listening skills.
  • Literacy: To enable pupils to look at traditional stories using a variety of sources.

 

Box contents

  • Costumes include a spider, mouse ears and nose, star, Duke of York’s Hat, dish and spoon, Mob Cap and Pinafore, and a Waistcoat and cap.
  • Resources include books for different classic nursery rhymes, teachers notes, suggestions for guided reading, audio tape and activity suggestions.

Hiring a box

Collect on a Monday between 12pm and 5:30pm, and return on a Friday before 5:30pm.
Closed 1pm to 1.30pm.
