An exceptional opportunity for artists to join illustrious painter Mike Chaplin, Royal Watercolour Society Member and Channel 4’s Watercolour Challenge resident artist for a one-off masterclass inspired by J.M.W. Turner. Work alongside Mike to gain an insight into Turner’s magical techniques and materials as you explore a range of working methods to improve your own work.
Working from examples of Turner, Mike will help you untangle the mystique of the master's work and produce a credible copy by the end of the session. There will also be a rare opportunity to look at some artifacts from Turner's studio which Mike owns.
Mike Chaplin's work is represented in many collections, including those of H.M. The Queen, The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford and The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. A specialist in Turner’s techniques, he contributed to How to Paint like Turner (Tate Publishing, 2010) which you will be able to purchase signed copies of on the day. www.mikechaplin.com
