Gosport Museum and Art Gallery is delighted to announce the return of its Open Art exhibition in 2024.

This vibrant exhibition presents a unique opportunity to enjoy and purchase original artworks by local, Hampshire-based artists and creatives.

Within the Gosport Gallery, you will find over 70 artworks by 50 talented artists. Selections have been made by a specialist panel made up of two team members from Gosport Museum and Art Gallery with an art background and Hampshire Cultural Trust’s Exhibitions Manager. During the judging process we were looking for creativity, appeal, technique, and a variety of topics, media and styles.

“The panel and I were extremely impressed by the high standard of the artwork submitted to this year’s Open Art, which made it difficult to narrow down the selection for the exhibition. You will be able to explore familiar landscapes and abstract dreamscapes, intricate studies from the natural world, playful everyday observations and some absolutely stunning portraiture. We hope you enjoy our selections!” - Exhibitions Manager for Gosport Museum and Art Gallery.

There will be prizes awarded for Judges’ Choice and Junior Judges’ Choice for entrants aged 12-18.

We will be asking you, the visitor, to cast your vote for your favourite artwork from the exhibition to determine the winner of our Peoples’ Choice Award. You will be able to cast your votes at the post-box in the gallery space. Voting runs until the end of the exhibition.

Open Art 2024 will run from Saturday 20 January until Thursday 14 March 2024 in the Gosport Art Gallery. If you want to take part in a future Open Art, the next opportunity to submit will be in Spring/Summer 2025!

Please note, all the original works of art on sale here are owned by the artist until sold to the customer. Hampshire Cultural Trust is acting as an agent, selling on behalf of the creator, on a commission basis.
