Brass Rubbing

Brass Rubbing at the Westgate


The Westgate Museum houses a small collection of replica Hampshire medieval church brasses.

After seeing the originals, you can have a go at making your own brass rubbing to take away as a souvenir of your visit.

You will be given an information sheet which will tell you all about the brass you have rubbed, and translate any inscription.

Group/educational group bookings

£2.00 per student

Group visits must be pre-booked.

Students are normally able to make their own small brass rubbing, and also, with their friends, make larger brass rubbings for a school display. Numbers are limited to 16-18 students in each brass rubbing session.
