Both photographs are taken looking north at the point where Cliddesden Road joins Hackwood Road, but at first glance it is difficult to believe they show the same view. If you look at the extreme right edge of the photographs you will see the corner of a building and a small section of wall with a curved top. This building and wall appear to be the only items common to both photographs so great has been the change.
All the buildings in the Terry Hunt photograph have disappeared to make way for rather less attractive replacements. Additionally, modern developments in the form of a car park, traffic signs, advertising boards and overhead wires have transformed the peaceful rural nature of the Hackwood Road of 75 years ago.
