Classes for Adults

Have fun, get creative and find a new skill (or develop an existing talent) with one of our popular term-time classes.

All materials are included in the price unless otherwise stated. Please arrive 15 mins before your first class to register. For further information please give us a call on 01425 612 393.

Thanks to support from Hampshire Futures (HF), participants in receipt of the following benefits can claim 50% off the cost of some of the classes and workshops (as indicated). Working tax credit, income support, universal credit, council tax reduction, housing benefit, state pension, those who live in households where children are eligible for free school meals; those aged 19-25 who were formerly in the care of Hampshire County Council (Care Leaver); asylum seekers (or their dependant) in receipt of the equivalent of income based benefit (assistance under the terms of the 1999 Immigration and Asylum Act). Qualifying evidence must be shown when booking.

TAP DANCE - BEGINNERS

Learn the basic steps of tap and create a number of dance routines.

For those with at least one year’s tap experience, apply knowledge of basic tap steps putting them into combinations and routines.  Tap shoes required.

BALANCE

A great way maintain coordination, fitness and agility – and stay young - Balance is a dance based movement session for the over 60’s that encourages mobility and increases balance.

LIFE DRAWING GROUP
Mon 11am – 3pm £7

An untutored and informal life drawing group. Please bring own materials and drawing board. Easels are available if required and you are free to use whatever materials you wish.

PARKINSON'S DANCE
Mon 1.30pm – 3pm £3.50

A fun and theraputic movement class delivered by Parkinson's Dance Sciene trained practitioners from Pavillion Dance South West. 

 

PATHWAYS THEATRE GROUP

A weekly programme of relaxed creative drama sessions for adults with a learning disability currently seeking employment. Sessions aim to build self-confidence and move people closer to feeling better prepared for employment. Suitable for all abilities.

PERSEPHONE BOOKS READERS’ GROUP

EXPLORING THE ARTISTS

Working in a friendly, relaxed studio environment you will be shown the works of Artists and their masterpieces to help develop your creative understanding.  You will use mixed media approaches using a variety of mediums and processes, printing, painting, drawing and collage.

BEGINNERS BALLET

An informal class led by a professional dance artist. This class is a wonderful way of building strength, whilst improving you coordination, balance and flexibility. Ballet shoes are recommended but not essential, suitable for age 16+.

For those who have some previous ballet experience and are looking to take the next steps to developing technique and learning more complex steps and repertoire.

CONTEMPORARY DANCE

Get fit and improve your mobility, strength and flexibility in this vibrant contemporary dance class. Enjoy a fun warm-up and range of dance-based exercises that build to a choreographed dance sequence. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing and bare feet, suitable for age 16+.

DANCE FOR ADULTS WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES

Suitable for all abilities, this class encourages group participation, timing and concentration in a fun safe environment, creating pieces of dance to perform for family and friends.

ART APPRECIATION
Wed 9 May, 6 June, 4 July 2pm – 4pm £20 for all three sessions
A monthly delve into the world of visual arts and art history. Exploring a variety of artists, art works and approaches as well as defining art movements. As well as being a practising artist himself, Alastair is a Gallery Lecturer at Southampton City Gallery and has a MA in European Fine Art.

FINDING YOUR VOICE

Do you struggle with speaking in public ? These session will provide a safe and supportive space to let go of inhibitions and free up your voice. Jacqueline Goddard will share tips and techniques from the world of professional theatre - to help you uncover any vocal blocks.

THEATREWORKS

For those more experienced performers, Theatreworks- improvers is an opportunity to work collaboratively, improvise, device, write and act. Work on published scripts, look at specific playwrights and their plays and, ultimately, perform to an audience in our professional theatre space.
